Police said a Pittsburgh man robbed a PNC branch for the second time in two months

A Pittsburgh man is accused of robbing a bank in the city’s Shadyside neighborhood on Saturday. It’s not the first time he’s been accused of hitting the spot, Rashon Coleman, 29, was charged last month in two bank robberies in Shadyside. One of these is the same bank accused of robbing on Saturday. Action News 4 in Pittsburgh found several officers at the PNC branch at 5900 Block Center Avenue before noon Saturday. According to Coleman’s criminal complaint, one of the tellers told police that a man entered the bank and began shouting to everyone inside, “This is a bank robbery. Coleman allegedly got away with more than $25,000.” After receiving the cash, he left the bank and ran down Center Avenue with a blue briefcase full of money. From Aldi.A witness reported seeing the robber run toward a parking garage nearby.Coleman was later arrested inside a nearby FedEx office, police say, where the teller was able to identify him.According to a separate criminal complaint,Coleman was released from the center Substance abuse treatment downtown around 10 a.m. Saturday on an approved shopping trip to Target Smithfield Ave. When he did not return at 11 a.m. the desk clerk reported to the police that an inmate had run away. Coleman was charged with two counts of robbery and robbery by unlawful appropriation and absconding in charges Saturday. Coleman was arrested in April after he allegedly robbed the same PNC branch as well as a First National Bank branch just a block away the next day. After the First National Bank robbery, police said, “Coleman was He’s carrying a plastic bag with a blue and orange nerf gun in it and an Aldi bag containing a large amount of cash with the cash bands still wrapped around some of the money.” He was transferred to the Allegheny County Jail after his arrest on Saturday. An initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

Coleman allegedly got away with more than $25,000. After receiving the cash, he left the bank and ran down Center Avenue with a blue Aldi bag full of money.

One witness reported seeing the robber run into a nearby parking garage. Police say Coleman was later detained inside a nearby FedEx office, where a teller was able to identify him.

According to a separate criminal complaint, Coleman was released from a substance abuse treatment center downtown around 10 a.m. Saturday for an approved shopping trip to Smithfield Street Target. When he did not return at 11 a.m., the officer’s desk clerk informed the police that an inmate had escaped.

Coleman was charged with two counts of robbery, robbery by unlawful appropriation and escape in the charges Saturday.

Coleman was arrested in April after he allegedly robbed the same PNC branch as well as the First National Bank branch just a block away the next day. After the First National Bank robbery, police said “Coleman was carrying a plastic bag with a blue and orange nerf gun in it and an Aldi bag containing a large amount of cash with the cash bands still wrapped around some of the money.”

Coleman was transferred to the Allegheny County Jail after his arrest on Saturday. An initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
