Shield Surfing 101: How to master the technique
You may have accidentally triggered the shield surfing technique if you have ever tried to jump while raising your shield. Combine your shields into Zonai carts and sleds for even more fun
Zonai devices can be found all over Hyrule. Two in particular can be incorporated into your armor to enhance its surfing abilities: carts and sleighs;. Once you have these items, drop them in front of you, then press L to summon your abilities. Highlight the item you wish to combine and press ZL to attach it to your shield. Incorporating a chariot into your armor gives you a skateboard to roam around with. This provides far greater travel distance and control than just a shield alone. You can also use chariot shield.
Incorporating a sled essentially gives you a snowboard (but you can use it on grass and other surfaces). You can surf alongside galloping horses – which is as fun as swimming with tigers (don’t ask).
This does not make your shield invincible. Surfing will still subject your armor to wear and tear, even when it fuses into something, and it will break. So use it where it makes sense. It’s a pretty cool way to get away from Gloom Hands.
