After two closed betas and an offline demo, everyone around the world will have the chance to try Street Fighter 6 online one last time before the game launches in a few weeks.
With SF6 open beta testing only a day away from now, we’ve put together a handy guide that we hope will go over everything you need to know this weekend.
First of all, the beta is scheduled to go live on Friday, May 19th, at midnight PDT / 3am EST where it will run until May 21st at the end of the night, assuming there are no major hitches.
Unlike the last beta, the open beta is still not available to PlayStation 4 owners, so users will have PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S and PC to choose from as a platform this weekend.
PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold are not required to play the open beta online.
Players can now also pre-download the Open Beta client to be ready to go when the time comes.
Content-wise, the SF6 open beta will be identical to what was available for the second closed beta, so there will only be 8 characters to choose from.
Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Guile, Juri, Luke, Jamie, and Kimberly will be the shortlist for this final test, and there are no balance changes present on how they will look in the second closed beta.
As for the modes and features that will be available, there is the main Battle Hub with character creation/customization, ranked matches, casual matches, open tournaments, Battle Hub matches, Battle Hub training mode, Extreme Battle, Hub Goods Shop, Game Center and Challenges Daily and DJ booth.
Battle Hub is the main new SF6 online mode where players can roam a large lobby with their custom avatars, talk to/express other players’ emotions, challenge them in arcade settings and play some classic Capcom titles.
Training Mode can also be accessed through the Battle Hub arcade machines while waiting for opponents to match against them.
We have move lists and fighter descriptions for all SF6 characters (not just in beta) on our website as well as a complete beginner’s guide for those trying the game for the first time.
Capcom has launched a series of videos on the Street Fighter YouTube channel covering beta details as well as quick personal how-to guides for everyone in the open beta (except for Ken as of the time this was reported).
We also have our very own character guide designed to help players choose which characters they are most likely to spend time with, which you can check out below, as well as more beginner guides on the official EventHubs YouTube channel.
If you’re wondering whether you should start with the modern or classic controls, we have a full guide covering both options and their pros and cons right here.
Online rank progression, high scores, and custom avatars will not carry over into the full game, so be aware that you’ll need to start over if you choose Street Fighter 6.
If you have any questions about the online beta or SF6 that we haven’t covered here, let us know in the comments.
Otherwise, we will all see you on the battlefield.
Street Fighter 6 is set to release on June 2nd for PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X | S and PC via Steam.
