In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a slightly embarrassing performance grudge match going on between two automakers at the top of the supercar tree. Rimac and Pininfarina have been trading blows for the past two years, and this week it was the Croatian company’s turn to gloat after its Nevera EV set 23 speed records.
The embarrassment we mentioned stems from the fact that the Pininfarina Battista is based on the Rimac Nevera, and until recently the Battista was the undisputed king of G-Force, after the Italian machine set a host of acceleration records that bested previous feats recorded by the Nevera.
But now Rimac is back on top. You can see the full list of physics-defying records in the image below, but some of the notable accomplishments include an 8.25-second quarter-mile time, 0-300 km/h (0-186 mph) in 9.2 seconds and 0-400 km/h (249 mph). ) in 21.31 seconds. All of these numbers were recorded in Germany, independently verified by two third-party groups and measured using a pull-up bar-style one-foot drag method, by the way.

Despite this, Rimac is most proud of how long it takes the Nevera to reach 400 km/h and back to zero again, claiming that this combined test of traction, acceleration, power, aerodynamics, braking power and grip is the ultimate measure of a hypercar’s straight-line performance.
Nevera did the job in 29.93 seconds, beating the previous record holder by more than a second, although in this case the undefeated champion was not the Batista, but the Koenigsegg Agera RS, which ran 31.49 seconds in 2019. And if you’re wondering how it compares Bugatti Chiron, the impressive one-off performance is miles off the pace, needing 42 seconds.
Rimac’s four-engine sent 1,888 bhp (1,914 hp) and 1,741 lb-ft (2,360 Nm) to the wheels with road-legal Michelin Cup 2 R tires for its explosive delivery off the line for the record-settings, and obviously the focus of this story is the start times . But in our minds, the numbers generated along the way are in every bit astounding.
