WhatsApp has made it easy to get rid of cheating and finding out that your partner is cheating is even more difficult.
The Meta-owned messaging app is launching a ‘Chat Lock’ feature that will allow users to keep their private conversations – private.
Locked chats will be in a protected folder that can only be accessed via passcode or biometrics, such as TouchID or FaceID.
Enabling the feature also means that notifications from these messages will no longer appear on the notification screen, hiding the sender and actual message content.
While WhatsApp is known for end-to-end encrypted messaging, users joke that the new privacy feature has “upgraded” the cheat.

“Thanks Mark, I can cheat in peace now,” said one user.
Someone joked, “Mark is always working to make unfaithful boys less likely to get caught.”
In a blog post titled “Chat Lock: Making Your Most Intimate Conversations More Private,” Meta revealed that it will be adding additional options to the lock feature, such as locking companion devices and creating unique chat-specific passwords instead of one used for your phone.
“We think this feature will be great for people who have a reason to share their phone from time to time with a family member or those moments when someone else is holding your phone for the exact moment an extra private conversation arrives,” Meta wrote in the letter. Blog.
