Cars may be completely inanimate objects but many of us develop a deep bond with them. Like everything else in the world, nothing lasts forever. This is the motivation for our question today. What cars do you most regret not owning anymore?
This question comes to you from one of you, Craig, who suggested it in another recent document. It’s been the most popular QOTD proposal, so we’re taking advantage of it today so we can hear from you all. It’s time to delve into your past and your heart.
I don’t have a huge history of amazing cars but there are a few that are gone that I wish I were still sitting around, not the least of which is our flagship, the old E60 BMW 535i. It featured BMW’s N54 inline-six which itself used two turbochargers to produce around 300 hp (223 kW). I left because I was no longer in a position to keep it the way I wanted to. Every time I see one I wish it was still there.

Maybe your story is similar. Maybe you owned something that you couldn’t keep playing at the time and so had to keep playing it. It might have been something else. My father-in-law sold his Corvette when he and his wife had their first child.
If I could pick one car that I miss the most, it would have to be my first car, a very worn out Porsche 944. It wasn’t a turbocharged 951 but it was mine and it was a blast to drive.
At one point, he seemed to have a head gasket problem. I tried to fix it myself and it only made things worse so I sold it to the first person who gave me $1000 for it.
I’m sure it will be fun to have it back. What do you miss the most? What cars do you most regret not owning anymore? Tell us what it is and what separated you from it.
